“I am not the same having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world.”
      – Mary Anne Radmacher Hershey

From the beginning it has been Payton's mission that as many students as possible, regardless of socioeconomic status, have the opportunity to experience first-hand the culture that they are studying during their four years at our school.

The World Language Department has led trips to Chile, China, France, Spain,Italy, Japan, Mexico, Canada, and Costa Rica.  Several of these are ongoing exchanges with sister schools; others are collaborations with reputable language institutes in those countries. Every year we continue to develop new cultural and language immersion opportunities for our students.  This year we will be adding two new exchange programs for our students in Argentina and Taiwan.
Payton also offers travel opportunities through other academic, music, community-based, service learning, seminar and sports programs.  Examples of these trips include exchanges with schools in the Czech Republic, Switzerland, South Africa, and Hungary.  The Humanities Festival has sponsored trips to England and Ghana, and this year will be traveling to Paris, France.

Payton faculty and students are also dedicated to volunteerism at the international level.  In recent years service trips with Habitat for Humanity, Amigos and BuildOn have taken students to Ecuador, Guatemala, Mail, Ghana, and Malawi.
